What is Air pollution? How can polluted air affect our life?

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Air pollution is a mix of particles and gases that can reach harmful concentrations both outside and indoors. Its effects can range from higher disease risks to rising temperatures. Soot, smoke, mold, pollen, methane, and carbon dioxide are just a few examples of common pollutants.

An air quality index is used by government agencies to communicate to the public how polluted the air currently is or how polluted it is forecast to become. Public health risks increase as the AQI rises. A quick check of Bangalore’s AQI shows that it has more than double the healthy level. Air pollution refers to the release of pollutants into the air that is detrimental to human health.

The polluted air affects humans by releasing a variety of chemicals into the atmosphere when we burn fossil fuels, dust, and overall pollution. Added to this is the reduced Green Cover, irresponsible disposal of garbage, wastewater, and many more issues. The air that is supposed to give you good health and keep you alive is in turn slowly poisoning you!
