Mini home makeovers you can do over the weekend

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Whatever the reason maybe reorganizing and revamping your home is always a good intention to work on. We can change the mood of the home by changing simple things around and here are some tips from Estate.One. We bring to you today, some specific and achievable tasks that will help refresh your home and gives you a sense of rejuvenation.

  1. Art re-positioning: If your artwork has been in the same position for years, then you kind of become blind to its beauty. By re-positioning it, you bring it to your attention again. Before moving it seek some help for searching the desired spot to get a feel of how they look. Involve the family in the decisions unless you want to surprise them. You might be surprised to see which artwork look perfect together and which don’t.
  2. Buy new pillow covers! You have been postponing this. Get them now. The effect that the pillow covers can have on the space is amazing. Don’t buy a matching one, contrasting patterns often look better together. For a calm look go for subdued tones such as pastel and neutrals. For a vibrant look, choose bright patterns. Also, if the pillows are getting too old and lumpy then think of replacing them too.
  3. The hanging mirrors: Do you know that the mirror can be used to make the most of the natural light? For that opens a small space and adds visual interest to a room. If you already have some, then re-position them along with the art. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, you can source mirror of different shapes from shops and hang them in a stylish and different way.
  4. Use a colorful rug: Is the room begging for some color? Use stripes to give an illusion of a larger room while other patterns inject life into space. Consider the function of the room before decorate. If you would be walking on the rug or eating over it, then lighter colors may show spills and footprints. Choose one that suits your room and mood.
  5. String up some indoor plants: While money plants are there in most rooms and are easily maintainable, adding more plants always is good. They can help you connect with nature and you don’t even need outdoor space for that! They can be good for your health and they look amazing.
  6. Freshen up your front door: Don’t you want more energy? Try yellow or red. If you are looking for calm and simplicity then go for blue and green. Paint your front door in a hue that will be pleasing to the eyes. Welcome your guest to a striking front entrance in a budget friendly way.
  7. New bedroom or shower curtains might do wonders! My wife is all for curtains and pillow covers and hence this addition. If you have just moved into a new place or renting a house then there is a chance that the old curtains are not very appealing and you are reluctant to replace. If you want a dark sleeping space then go for the curtain that is made up of heavier fabric and blackout lining. The ideal option would be ready-made curtain because of the lower prices, but make sure that to measure the windows and shower so get the right size of curtains. Also, if you are renting, get permission from your landlord before adding a new rod!

Go on now. Spice up your home this weekend and make changes that would leave your family enthralled and get some prasie for your creativity and good work. Share some pictures of the old and new look on our facebook page.
